Give Warmth

Express. Eastland Mall. Bloomington, IL.

I really liked how this display was all about warmth while the other was about style and dressier clothes. The displays tell a certain story of it all. The symmetry in this display is done very well with having two mannequins on either side of the boxes. The proportion is done well too, because the picture in the back keeps you looking at what's in the window than looking into the store behind the products.

Give Style

Express. Eastland Mall. Bloomington, IL.

I really liked this window display, because it showing the nicer clothes of what women will wear during the holiday season, such as New Years Eve. The proportion of the display is done very well with having the different levels of mannequins, having the gifts on the floor, and the picture about the gifts. The rhythm is done well with having 3 different things in the window display. I also really like how the red kind of goes in to what Express is. When i see red and white on the outside of the store I think of express, and it all blends together which gives out the vibe of Express.

Holiday Savings

Von Maur. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

I again really liked this type of display inside of Von Maur. It is showing the promotion of the store, while bringing in the holiday spirit with having presents and a festive, warm outfit. It is it's own display. The outfit all goes together while the savings show what is going on that day in Von Maur.

Von Maur

Von Maur. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

Right when I walked into Von Maur I saw that pretty Christmas tree with the display next to it. Even though it's not a window display, I still think they are doing a good job at merchandising their products. It's putting a story in with having the tree and the presents under the tree. They give you the entire ensemble of the outfit that people will wear on Christmas. The folded socks, the jewelry, and the boots on the table helps bring all this display together. The sweaters were right around this display and many more. It has great unity even though it is not technically a window display.

White House Black Market

White House Black Market. Oakbrook Mall. Oakbrook, IL.

I went with my mom to this store, because we had a coupon, and I had to take a picture because I really liked the tree and ornaments with the window display theme. Proportion is well done with the tree being tall and having the mannequin be put up a little taller than the rest. The clothes are very elegant and sophisticated so having a simple window display with White House Black Market looks perfect in it's own way.

The Loft

The Loft. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

I thought the Loft did a good job on their window display. Sometimes when I look at this store, it's just really plain and boring with no excitement in the window display. I feel as if when I see their displays, they don't bring me towards them to see what else they have. They could be more visual appealing. I understand that the Loft is more simple, but it still needs to bring some visually appealing window displays. I really liked the pillars or blocks to use to put folded scares and hats on these displays. The proportion is great with the picture in the background and having the trees be tall. It's not as balanced with symmetry as it could but, but it still looks nice.

Let's Holiday

Chico's. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

I think this is a nice window display, but I think it could be better. The big ornaments on the ground by the mannequins are nice, but i think having them hung around the mannequins will make the proportion of the window display look much better. I do like the different kinds of mannequin styles they have with some sitting, so it helps see the window watcher look at how the clothes stretch. The wreath doesn't make the background look any better than what it could be. The theme is all together with having jackets and ponchos but the background could be more festive and go alone with the color scheme perhaps.

Another Perfect Christmas

Bath and Body Works. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

Right when you walk in you see this beautiful display. I really liked it because it shows that the story goes along with the theme of the "Perfect Christmas." It almost goes up the top of the ceiling so it has great proportion. The rhythm is the same through the table with the products being placed on both sides of the tree and signage. It has the same Santa hats on the products like the green window display with the wreath. Unity is throughout the store which shows great merchandising.

Christmas Wreath Green

Bath and Body Works. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

Right after i looked at the window display on the left I went over to see the other display on the right and it is just as adorable as the other one! The theme with the green looks great. It brings unity to all the products and decorations that are in this window display. All the lotions, body sprays, and shampoos have the little Santa hats on each of them which is super cute. Again the proportion of the window is great with having different levels with the products and having lights and pictures around on the glass. The wreath takes up a big part as well.

Perfect Christmas

Bath and Body Works. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

I came here during the night, and this is the very first window display that caught my eye. The "Perfect Christmas" sign would light up. It was the cutest thing i have ever seen! This is such a great idea, because it makes you attracted to see what else is in the window display. After looking you see the soaps and lotions in the gift bags, which shows that people can buy gift bags for their loved ones. It uses great proportion of the window displays by having the lights around the window and the pine cone pictures on the glass in all four corners.

Namaste

OhmFit Activewear. Uptown Normal. Normal, IL.

I love how one of my peers created this window display! It looks so great and shows the holidays are coming. The proportion is so well done with the mannequin being on the shelf, having the streamers and lights, and the tree in the corner. The colors bring together the unity of the display. I love the gold sign and how the golds all look great together. This window brings forth the holiday spirit, but shows the holidays can be calm as well.

Francesca's Part 2

Francesca's. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

I also really liked the other window display for Francesca's. I really like the different levels of products in those little boxes that go along with the holidays. The jewelry, hats, and scarves also go with the mannequins in display as well. The theme is all together which brings in the unity of it all. The proportion is good with the snowflakes taking up spots in the window display and how the mannequins are pretty tall. Again, well done Francesca's.

Francesca's

Francesca's. College Hills Mall

Francesca's seems to always have such great window displays. They always use their proportion of the entire window display. The snowflakes makes the window look bigger. It has great balance and is symmetrical with having the 2 Christmas trees on both sides of the garments. I also really like there's a theme with the colors, which brings the unity of the entire window display together.

Simplicity

Loft. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

Although there is not much to this window display, I really like how its very simple and elegant, which is what the Loft is all about. Their garments are too over the top with colors, but have a elegant sense to it. It is a little plain and you can see into the store from the front, so the proportion of the window is not all used. I believe they could have more accessories with the display, with maybe shoes, purses, or scarves. I saw in the store there were tables of scarves. That would have helped see they had some in the store.

Plaid Perfection, Too!

Target. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

Here is also another display in Target. I feel this has a target market for women who are older maybe between 25-40. It does resemble the fashionable mom watching her kids play soccer or walking around during Halloween. It also has the plaid shirts right next to the mannequins so it is easier for the customer to choose what kind of shirt they would like. I again think having shoes would be a little better to have with them, with maybe flats or boots.

Plaid Perfection

Target. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.
Although this technically isn't a window display, I think having these mannequins in a row is very smart and looks super neat and well placed. You can see the display from all different angles and sides of the mannequins which gives the customer the ability to see things that you wouldn't be able to in a window display. It's great that they have all the plaid shirts next to mannequins so it is much easier for the customer to shop. I believe the jeans were close by so putting those on the mannequins is nice. I think they could show some time of shoes on the mannequin. or maybe box them in with class and put boots or any other type of shoe down.

Wrapped In Warmth

Francesca's. College Hills Mall. Normal, IL.

I absolutely loved this window display. It shows exactly what fall/ winter is all about: Being wrapped up in warm garments. I believe they used all of the proportion in order for the window to look finished. It also had rhythm with having the 2 displays of shoes and folded sweaters on the sides while having 4 mannequins in the middle. Plus having the leaves brings the entire window display together which is unity. All of these clothes look so cute and I seriously would buy all of these.

Gigi Botega. Downtown Bloomington, IL.

I absolutely loved this window display. They never fail to disappoint. I love how they have the shopping cart with the food on the bottom that represent what Fall is all about! The pumpkin and leaves and the little bush really help show what type of window display it is and the theme that goes along with it. Plus the style of the products really show the women who wear Gigi Botega clothing. The dress would be perfect for a night out, the long pencil skirt looks like something you would wear while the woman is at work or having a day out, and the lastly is more casual but still super chic. Bravo Gigi Botega!

That Dapper Pet

That Dapper Pet. Downtown Bloomington, IL.

I thought this window display was definitely ready for Fall! It decorated the dog with a Halloween bandana with the window having pumpkins and leaves all over the place. Each window just had enough to wear it all came together with the whole feel of it being fall. It shows that maybe the type of merchandise they have goes along with the theme of Fall and Halloween. People will want their dogs to look cute and nice for the season so seeing this persuades them to come into the store to look around. The window doesn't have products all the way to the top of the windows so its not all proportioned but the pumpkin lights help with it. You can also see easily into the store so there might need to be a background in order for people to just look at the merchandise in the window.

Them Dapper Boys

Churchill's Formal Wear. Downtown Bloomington, IL.

The first thing I saw when I walked by this store were the paper-like chandeliers. They are super cute and it helps walk by people look at the window display in the first place, especially if there are women walking by. Although I won't be shopping for tuxedos this window is very visually appealing. It is not too crazy to where it is all over the place with tuxedos. It's nice and simple with having three different suits and one with having a child suit. It makes it looks like everyone can shop at this store. You can see into the store, but the mannequins on the sides help with not be able to. If they had a background that would have looked a little bit better, but I still like it.

Fall in Love with Autumn

Crossroads Handcrafts of the World. Downtown Bloomington, IL.

Right when I walked around the corner by Crossroads I thought the variety of bird houses with the fall leaves was very cute and appealing to the eye. It made me want to go buy a birdhouse because the way it was all laid out. It was proportioned to where it used all the window with the four different rows of products from the store. The leaves and the colors really help with having a type of color story with that window alone, also. Also the window is a little higher with my head being by the first and second rows but I wanted to look up to see what else was there.

Girl Power!

Gap Kids. Eastland Mall. Bloomington-Normal, IL.

I absolutely love this display! Empowering girls as a young age is really such a great thing, and this display definitely grabs the attention of the parent shopping and the child going to try the clothes on. It definitely brings in walk by traffic. There is a lot of unity in the window with having the lightning bolt in the background and also having it on the t-shirt will make kids want to get the shirt. It uses almost the whole amount of the window so the proportion is really great! Plus having the clothes in the picture are the ones that they have on display which brings it all together as well.

City Chic

Express. Eastland Mall. Bloomington-Normal, IL.

The first thing that I saw when I came across Express was definitely the big picture of Karlie Kloss with the words City Chic on it. Its the perfect background for the window display and with the other two pictures beside it take up the entire background and use the proportions needed to have a great window display. This window really shows the style of Express in the fall and shows what a woman from New York City would be wearing walking down the street. I have worked at Express before, and they really try to show who the woman of Express are and what their style is. This window definitely brings in a lot of walk by traffic especially being in the cities. People will want to go with the latest trends.

Denim on Denim on Denim

Pac Sun. Eastland Mall. Bloomington-Normal, IL.

I really do love all the different types of denim they have in this window display. The window is also very asymmetrical. It has three pictures and three bars of the denim with the same amount of denim on both of the side bars. When people look into Pac Sun, they will always see Kendall and Kylie Jenner in the pictures which I think will bring in walk by traffic. Since they are famous and stylish, people want to dress like they are famous and stylish. The window is definitely proportioned also with having the pictures above the jeans which make you look at the window display instead of just straight into the store itself. The window display just has a good rhythm all together with all the jeans being the same direction on the bars.

Jump Into Fall

Bath and Body Works. Eastland Mall. Bloomington-Normal, IL.

Right when I walked into Eastland Mall this is the window display that stood out to me the most. It's perfect for the upcoming season. Bath and Body Works always seems to have perfect look for the window display. The whole window is used which used the proportion aspect of the principles of design. The colors of the leaves really make it pop, and having the fall fragrances in the windows will make the viewer want to come inside to smell the scents. Right after I saw them I went right in just to see what they all smelled like. It is quite addicting. It is also great to have the black bags be in the corner of the display so when people come in they will have accessibility to walk around without having to carry all of their products they choose in their hands.

Live Colorfully Part 2

The Pod. Uptown Normal. Normal, IL.

This is the other window display for The Pod. I really loved how they put the little cottage on the right, because I feel like all the accessories and garments would be in that little cottage. I again really like the colorful daisies hanging from the streamers which really brighten up the window altogether. The outfit behind the rest of the displays would be the person living in that little cottage gardening the color daises in her yard. It all comes together which really makes it visually pleasing to everyone, but especially mothers.

Get Fit with OhmFit

OhmFit Activewear. Uptown Normal. Normal, IL.

When I saw this brand new store in Uptown I simply had to go see what it is all about. This store is super cute. They're clothes are for college women to working women to mothers too! Window displays like this really help motivate you to want to look better. Having cute garments like these will want you to work out so you can show off your abilities and your body of course! The little cute flowers displays really bring out the store and the garments as well. The water bottles and the little quote right in the middle also help with the window display. It is very girly, but I can definitely see college women coming to look and buy these clothes. I was very tempted to buy some myself, but I kept telling myself I'll come back. I will most definitely be coming back.

Live Colorfully

The Pod. Uptown Normal. Normal, IL.

Right when I walked up to The Pod, the first thing I see is that beautiful and colorful wine class right in the middle with all the other products around it. This is what a person's house and clothing who shops at The Pod would look like. There is never a day where their windows wouldn't make me smile. It's just so bright and cheerful when you walk by that you can't help but to walk in to see what else they have. The background with the displays of the colorful daisies and the streamers really make the freedom black shirt and the paisley bottoms really pop as well. The clothing represents what  The Pod consumer would wear and the vases, glasses. and jewelry represent what would be placed in their home.

My Second Home

Akira. Oakbrook Center. Oakbrook, IL

This weekend I went home for a wedding, and I needed to pick up my check from the store I worked at this summer, Akira. Akira was really a second home to me. I worked there as much as possible and my co-workers became like a second family to me. When I walked by the window displays I just had to put it in the blog. For this window, the big theme is denim. Fall is season where the jeans and jean jackets come out to match with a cute shirt or a maxi dress. They also have cute brown and black booties on there to match with different types of washes of the jeans. Also, there is a BOGO 50% off jeans sign next to the windows right when you walk in, which is great marketing because the customers get to see the window and walk in to see that there's a promotion going on. I know it would make me happy to see something like that.

Goodbye to the Summer Wind

Apricot Lane in Uptown. Normal, IL

If anyone ever talks about Uptown, the words Apricot Lane always seem to come up. It's a store where no matter what you're doing, you always have to walk by to see their visual displays in the windows. The layout of the window is always visually pleasing to the eye, and the clothes are always super cute. The little things in the background really bring out the clothes in the window too. It brings it all together. The products symbolize fall is upon us, and the fall outfits are coming out. If I was to wear this clothing on the quad everyone would know these are from Apricot Lane. They have their own type of style, and everyone knows what it is. I think it is great for a store to have that especially right where college students come to go shopping all the time. Bravo!
